National Volunteer Month All Star
"What I love about Linda is that she just keeps going, week after week, she shows up and continues to give it her all,” says Toni, manager of volunteer services. Toni adds, “She is very responsible and dependable. I can always count on her to help in every special event, such as the flu and COVID-19 clinics, as well as other occasions. Our thanks to you, Linda, for all your support, your kindness and for being so caring and considerate of others.”
Linda has been a PIH Health volunteer for more than nine years and she’s amassed more than 1,500 hours of service. During her earlier days at PIH Health Downey Hospital (PHDH) she served with physical therapy and outpatient surgery. In more recent years she’s been an ambassador, performing all the duties one encounters in the ambassador center.
Linda’s volunteering preceded her time with PIH Health as she devoted 10 years to serving with Downey Meals On Wheels, where she delivered food to those in need.
She put to good use the accounting skills she acquired, while attending Cerritos College, by spending approximately 20 years in the field of accounting, working primarily with the payroll and accounts payable functions for two organizations.
Linda is an ardent fan of the Los Angeles Dodgers and for 20 years she was a Dodger booster, attending all their home games. She’s still a faithful fan, but “attends” the games via TV. She’s also a walking enthusiast, which goes hand-in-hand with her being a PIH Health ambassador.
When describing her passion for volunteering with PIH Health, Linda says, “I just enjoy serving others. Being an ambassador is especially gratifying because of all the different things ambassadors do and their contact with patients, mostly via discharges. Before PHDH transitioned its labor and delivery services, my favorite thing to do was discharge moms and their new babies.”
Linda is pleasant and is a dedicated team player—the stuff of which All Star volunteers are made.
