PIH Health’s reputation for exceptional healthcare is due in large part to the generosity of those who share our commitment to excellence. Every dollar donated makes an impact on the care we can provide. Although a donor may choose to support an area that is most meaningful to them, the following are current fundraising priorities for PIH Health:

Clinical Simulation Center

This new center will provide our physicians and nurses with technology and training to enhance their skills and ability to provide the highest quality patient care available.

PIH Health Hospice

At PIH Health, end-of-life care is part of the comprehensive experience we provide to patients, their family members, caregivers and loved ones.

PIH Health’s Hospice program is widely recognized for the outstanding services it provides to patients in their homes and in our two residential facilities. Our program has been a model for other nationally recognized medical institutions because we understand the importance of providing outstanding and compassionate care to those we treat throughout their entire journeys. Funds raised to support Hospice will enable us to improve and upgrade our supportive services that are the very heart of PIH Health.

PIH Health maintains two 24-hour nursing care hospice homes the Dove House and the Rose House. Development dollars raised this year will allow us to re-design the Rose House to offer private rooms for each of our residents. The nursing station will move in closer proximity to patient rooms and the bathrooms will be remodeled. In addition, new furniture will be installed in both houses, and the facilities will be refreshed with new paint and décor to create a tranquil and serene space.

PIH Health James P. Fitzgerald MD Spiritual Care Services

Your generous support of PIH Health James P. Fitzgerald MD Spiritual Care Services helps ensure availability of specially trained chaplains and spiritual care providers in our hospitals as well as our palliative care and hospice programs to tend to the emotional and spiritual needs of patients, families, and staff of all backgrounds and identities (religious and non-religious alike), promoting a culture of respect and dignity that honors what is sacred to those for whom we care. Your gift helps maintain and enhance our team’s ability to be there to listen non-judgmentally; be of pastoral counsel as people face critical, life-changing circumstances and decisions; help align care plans with each person’s values; provide and/or arrange for provision of religious rites and rituals that bring comfort; offer in-person and virtual support; provide grief and bereavement sessions and other special programming; and tap into people’s inner strengths and resources for healing and wellness as part of patient-centered care at PIH Health. State-of-the-art imaging systems - the Siemens Force CT Scanner

Currently, PIH Health uses four CT scanners throughout the system to perform a total of 53,600 scans per year. Our current CT scanners are used daily across almost every hospital department, in our outpatient settings, and in our emergency rooms. Due to the large number of patients requiring a CT scan, additional imaging systems will allow us to expeditiously perform more scans that will lead to accurate and timely treatment. This technology offers clearer, more precise imaging and diagnoses, and provides full body imaging in less than five seconds, which means quicker scans, faster diagnoses and reduced treatment wait-times for the patients we serve. The earlier the diagnosis the sooner treatment can begin, which in many cases can be lifesaving. Your support will make the acquisition of this is critical new equipment possible. Our goal is to purchase one new CT scanner for PIH Health Hospital – Downey.

Nursing Education at PIH Health

Those who have experienced care at PIH Health appreciate its distinctive culture, which combines personalized care with a passion for excellence. Nursing is at the heart of this distinctive approach to patient care. Today, nursing staff play an increasingly dominant role in the ongoing transformation of patient care and PIH Health puts great emphasis on continuing education so that our nurses have access to the most advanced methods of patient care. Gifts in support of nursing education will provide continuing education and certification options to our nurses and will play an important role in enhancing the patient experience at PIH Health.

In addition to unrestricted gifts to support the greatest need at PIH Health, many donors prefer to indicate their preference for how PIH Health will utilize their gift. PIH Health Foundation encourages charitable donations to a wide variety of service lines, programs and services that support the mission of PIH Health.
