Family Medicine Residency Program - Downey
Welcome to PIH Health Downey Family Medicine Residency. The residency program at PIH Health Downey Hospital was established in 1993 as part of Rio Hondo Hospital and then moved to Downey Community Hospital, which later became Downey Regional Medical Center. In 2013, PIH Health acquired Downey Regional Medical Center and became PIH Health Downey Hospital. Our program is an ACGME-accredited Family Medicine Residency with a strong emphasis on teaching.
Our mission is to train the next generation of Family Medicine physicians to provide high-quality healthcare without discrimination and to improve the health and well-being of our communities. Our residents will develop their skills in an ethical, safe, and fiscally prudent manner and will focus on their patient’s needs first.
PIH Health Downey Hospital is a 199-bed, non-profit, community hospital serving Downey and its surrounding cities. Our clinic, adjacent to the hospital provides excellent patient care to a diverse population.
