To ensure continuous growth at every stage of your nursing career with us, we offer educational programs and tuition assistance in an environment that actively supports and encourages professional development.

New Graduate Training Program

The 12 to 16-week program is designed to train and provide education to the newly graduated registered nurse. The program utilizes Patricia Benner’s “Novice to Expert” Model to transition the new graduate in a supportive environment from a novice to a competent RN.

A variety of teaching methods are used to enhance the learning experience including: didactic classes, group discussions, simulation, role-play, follow-up competency validation and developmental plans. In addition to the educational component there is also clinical orientation with qualified preceptors to assure progression and advancement in the continuum from a novice to a competent nurse.

Nursing Scholarship Program

The Bishop Johnson College of Nursing Legacy Endowment Fund was established to create an on-going endowment for nursing education at PIH Health Good Samaritan Hospital. Every year the endowment fund grants scholarship to PIH Health Good Samaritan Hospital nurses who are furthering their studies in a nursing field.
