Breastfeeding Support
Partner with the International board-certified lactation consultants (IBCLC) at PIH Health to help you successfully breastfeed your baby. By choosing to breastfeed, you are providing your infant with lifelong benefits that include brain development, improved immune system, blood sugar regulation and heart health.
During Pregnancy
Before your baby is born, take part in classes to prepare you for breastfeeding. You will be prepared to recognize you babies hunger cues, learn the best breastfeeding positions and get pointers for successful breastfeeding
Breastfeeding Services
Take advantage of the support, education and breastfeeding services at PIH Health during and after your hospital stay. Turn to our lactation consultants who can help you prevent or solve problems related to breastfeeding your baby. Our support doesn’t end when you go home. Our lactation team is just a phone call away and you can contact them with any questions or concerns. You can also participate in our outpatient breastfeeding support group led by our lactation team, where you can share experiences with other new mothers.
Personalized Breastfeeding Plan
During your hospital stay, you will receive a breastfeeding assessment from an IBCLC. Then, you’ll work together to develop a care plan that meets your needs and preferences. Your breastfeeding plan can help address breastfeeding challenges, such as how to:
- Establish and maintain milk supply
- Support infant weight gain
- Help infants with special needs
