Body Plastic Surgery

PIH Health offers a range of cosmetic procedures to enhance the appearance of various parts of the body.

Cosmetic surgery is not a solution for weight reduction. Obese individuals who intend to lose weight should postpone all forms of body-contouring surgery until they have reached a stable weight. Body contouring after major weight loss improves the overall body and shape.

Arm Lift

An arm lift, also known as arm reduction or brachioplasty, is a surgical procedure used to help remove the excess skin and fatty tissue from the axilla and upper arm. Plastic surgeons use various techniques for brachioplasty, ranging from liposuction to excess skin removal. Brachioplasty can be combined with other forms of body-contouring surgery, including liposuction or other elective surgeries.

Body Lift

A body lift is a surgical procedure to remove excess skin and fatty tissue from the middle and lower abdomen, hips, outer thighs, back and buttocks and to tighten muscles of the abdominal wall. A body lift is not a surgical treatment for being overweight.

Liposuction

Liposuction, also known as liposculpture, removes deposits of excess fat to improve body appearance and smooth irregular or distorted body shapes. Liposuction can remove unwanted deposits of fat from specific areas of the body, including the neck, upper arms, trunk, abdomen, buttocks, hips and thighs, and the knees, calves and ankles. This is not a substitute for weight reduction; it’s a method for removing localized deposits of fatty tissue that do not respond to diet or exercise. Liposuction may be performed as a primary procedure for body contouring or combined with other surgical techniques such as facelift, abdominoplasty or thigh lift procedures to tighten loose skin and supporting structures.

The best candidates for liposuction are individuals of relatively normal weight who have excess fat in particular body areas. Having firm, elastic skin will result in a better final contour after liposuction. Skin that has diminished tone from stretch marks, weight loss or natural aging may not reshape itself to the new contours and may require additional surgery to remove and tighten excess skin. Body-contour irregularities from structures other than fat cannot be improved by this technique. Liposuction by itself will not improve areas of dimpled skin known as “cellulite.”

Thigh Lift

A thigh lift is a surgical procedure to remove excess skin and fatty tissue from the thighs. A thigh lift is not a surgical treatment for being overweight. Plastic surgeons use various techniques for a thigh lift. A thigh lift can be combined with other forms of body-contouring surgery, such as liposuction, or performed at the same time as other elective surgeries.

Tummy Tuck

A tummy tuck, also known as abdominoplasty, is a surgical procedure to remove excess skin and fatty tissue from the middle and lower abdomen and to tighten muscles of the abdominal wall. Abdominoplasty is not a surgical treatment for being overweight. Obese individuals who intend to lose weight should postpone all forms of body contouring surgery until they have reached a stable weight. There are a variety of different techniques used by plastic surgeons for abdominoplasty. The procedure can be combined with other forms of body-contouring surgery, including suction-assisted lipectomy, or performed in conjunction with other elective surgeries.
