Conditions We Treat

  • Aortic stenosis – Narrowing of the aortic heart valve, which slows blood flow and makes the heart work harder

Structural Heart Disease Treatments

Treatments include:

  • Aortic valve repair and replacement surgery – Treats conditions affecting the aortic valve
  • Atrial septal defect closure (ASD) – Repairs the hole between your heart’s left and right atria by using cardiac catheterization (thin, flexible tube inserted in an artery) or open-heart surgery
  • Left atrial appendage closure (Watchman™ FLX™ placement) – Reduces the risk of stroke by placing an implant into the heart to close off the left atrial appendage (LAA) and prevent blood clots from traveling to the brain
  • Patent foramen ovale closure (PFO) – Uses a cardiac catheter to insert a plug in the opening of the solid wall (septum) between the chambers of the heart to allow blood to flow properly
  • Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) – Replaces the aortic valve through a minimally invasive catheter-based procedure
  • Transcatheter mitral valve repair (TMVR) – Places a thin tube (catheter) into a large vein in the leg to reach the heart and place a clip implant (MitraClip®) onto the center of the mitral valve to stop it from leaking
  • Transcatheter Edge-to-Edge Repair with the TriClip™ – Minimally invasive procedure that treats severe tricuspid regurgitation
  • Transradial cardiac catheterization – Places a catheter in an artery in your wrist instead of a vein in your groin using advance techniques to help you benefit from a faster recovery and a lower risk of complications
  • Valvuloplasty – Widens a narrowed valve to provide symptom relief and improve the quality of life when surgery is not an option due to a narrow aortic valve
