Niraj Karki MD is committed to providing excellent care to his patients, especially in the form of clear and detailed communication with both patients and their families alike. His detailed oriented personality and ingrained passion for medicine inspired his special interest for infectious diseases, particularly HIV. He earned his medical degree from Kathmandu University, in Nepal, and completed his residency with New York University, Woodhull Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York, where he was elected Best Resident of his class. Dr. Karki also completed a clinical fellowship in Infectious Disease at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Massachusetts. Dr. Karki worked as a Hospitalist and Infectious Disease specialist at The Aroostook Medical Center in Maine, and served as Medical Director of their Intensive Care Unit.

The LVN that called me was not attentive. He was flirting with another staff and thinking that he called my name forgot until I asked him did you call my name? He proceed to follow the staff flirting with in the hallway and I was behind him. He apologized that he left me in the hallway

This doctor was a wonderful doctor, extremely patient, and excellent at answering any and all the questions we asked, no matter how silly they seemed. And I'm forever grateful for that. He just needs to continue doing the great work he's doing, and his staff was very kind. Thank you.

Dr. Karki seemed to be a very responsible doctor. The problem is that within all the PIH health system doctors, it takes a very, very long time to see one. And if you need treatment by several, it ends up taking years between seeing one doctor and then seeing the next.

This office is in a small store front - PIH Urgent Care. It's also in a shopping mall with many stores restaurants, etc. Because of this, it's almost impossible to find on your first visit. I believe that they should move into a larger standalone building so they can be easily recognized. The care wasn't affected, but the first impression leaves a lot to be desired.

The only problem I had was scheduling a timely appointment. It took two, two and a half months to get to see the doctor and that is kind of intolerable when you're in discomfort and sick. So, they have to see patients on a timely schedule and be available.

Yeah, for March 11th, with Dr. (name removed), I believe that's how you pronounce his name. Yeah, I believe that's how you pronounce his name. Dr. Niraj Karki. One of my favorite things that he did was he did explain that he saw the data report and all that, but then he actually paused and took a moment to really get to know me and really tell my story of why I was at the specialist and what are my main concerns. And so instead of him kind of having the data to provide what he thought it was, he allowed me an opportunity to explain myself and really what my conclusions were. And then he provided the data to kind of align on what I'm saying and what he is observing, which I truly appreciate.

I've been with PIH for quite some time and have never had a bad experience with any of the staff, doctors, nurses, front desk, all have been friendly and helpful. I have never had any doubt as to the, qualifications, skills or opinions of anyone I've encountered.

Dr Karki was simply the best Doctor I have ever had the privilege of dealing with in all my many years with PIH. I Would also like to highly commend (name removed) for her assistances through a difficult process ,she was outstanding. I Would also like to mention my nurse (name removed) at PIH Downey hospital. He went totally above and beyond the call of duty. I cannot put into words the level of excellence and caring these folks brought to my experience. In addition, before I got to Dr Karki I had given up on PIH ever resolving my current problem. I suggest if PIH would like to see how things should be done they should talk with the 3 above mentioned individuals I would be glad to elaborate- you have my phone number on file
