Michael Maehara MD entered into the field of Rheumatology because he was inspired to help people that are incapacitated and help them gain better day-to-day function. He wanted to contribute to the lives of the many geriatric patients that suffer from auto-immune diseases. Dr. Maehara attended the St. Georges University School of Medicine, in Grenada, Wisconsin and completed his internship at Kings County - Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. He completed a fellowship in Rheumatology in 1987 and has been practicing in the Los Angeles and Long Beach area ever since. Dr. Maehara is also an Accredited Consultant for Osteoporosis, and an Accredited Reader of Bone Density Results.
