Katherine Kim MD is a board-certified specialist in gastroenterology and internal medicine. She first became interested in gastroenterology while conducting pancreatic cancer research at Johns Hopkins prior to medical school. She was fortunate to work with several top gastroenterologists who inspired her to pursue gastroenterology as a specialty.
A native of Southern California, Dr. Kim completed her fellowship training at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. During her fellowship, Dr. Kim had the opportunity to train with world-renowned experts in inflammatory bowel disease, irritable bowel syndrome, pancreatobiliary diseases and hepatology. This experience developed Dr. Kim’s interest in quality improvement and she has published extensively in leading gastroenterology journals. Dr. Kim’s wider interests include endoscopic management of gastrointestinal bleeding, gastrointestinal malignancies, inflammatory bowel disease and liver disease.
Dr. Kim chose her profession because she wants to help people in a tangible way. She considers it a privilege to be able to care for her patients in their time of need and is passionate about providing the best care.
“I’m drawn to inpatient gastroenterology care because of the challenge involved in caring for acutely ill and medically complex patients,” she explains. “I value the patient-doctor relationship and always strive to listen to my patients.”
A wellness and nutrition enthusiast, Dr. Kim enjoys being active, spending time with family and traveling.
