Jason Jensen MD is a board-certified general surgeon who completed his fellowship training in bariatric surgery at Menorah Medical Center in Overland Park, Kansas. Dr. Jensen also has specialized training in performing both surgical and endoscopic procedures for treatment of heartburn and acid reflux in patients with symptoms uncontrolled by medications. According to Dr. Jensen, “The best way to improve a person’s life is by improving their health.” The ability to have a positive impact on the lives of others combined with a fascination for the mechanics of the human body led him to medicine and surgery.
Dr. Jensen feels that bariatric surgery is the best long-term treatment for obesity and obesity-related diseases, including diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, and even cancer. Dr. Jensen loves performing surgeries and knowing that he is extending lives and improving quality of life for his patients. His fellowship training in cutting edge bariatric, robotic, and endoscopic surgery allows Dr. Jensen to tailor a surgical/procedural plan for individual patients, rather than using a “one size fits all” approach.
As an undergraduate, Dr. Jensen spent a semester in Spain, studying anatomy, pathology, economics, history, and Italian with Spanish medical students. He speaks Spanish fluently. Recently, Dr. Jensen has had surgical videos accepted for presentation at the annual meeting for the Society of Robotic Surgery and the American College of Surgery Clinical Congress. While most of Dr. Jensen’s free time is spent with his family, he loves sports and physical activities of every kind. However, he is happiest in the water, swimming, surfing or wakeboarding.
