Dr. Maryska, nephrology, knew medicine was the career for her after volunteering at a hospice in college. “It was inspiring to see how scientific training and compassion could combine to alleviate suffering,” she says. Of her specialty, Dr. Maryska says “Nephrology gives me the opportunity to utilize the breadth of my training in internal medicine while also focusing on the most interesting organ there is—the kidney!“
Outside of the hospital, Dr. Maryska likes to read and cook. “I love to read and, at one point, considered pursuing a career as an author,” she adds.
