Katrine Zhiroff MD is a board-certified interventional cardiologist specializing in heart disease in women, coronary artery disease, coronary artery angioplasty and stenting, peripheral vascular disease and heart failure. After graduating Summa Cum Laude from UCLA and receiving a doctorate in medicine from the UC San Diego, she completed both an internship and residency at Los Angeles County - Harbor UCLA Medical Center. She later participated in a subspecialty fellowship in cardiovascular disease as well as an additional fellowship in interventional cardiology through Harbor UCLA and PIH Health Good Samaritan Hospital, receiving a ‘Fellow of the Year’ teaching award. As a professional, Dr. Zhiroff values the importance of understanding patients’ challenges to provide them with the best treatment.

“Cardiology is a specialty that ranges from preventative medicine to emergency life-saving procedures for patients,” explains Dr. Zhiroff. “As a cardiologist, I have the privilege of forming long-lasting bonds with my patients as I help them manage their chronic condition.”

In her free time, Dr. Zhiroff enjoys hiking and skiing with her family as well as traveling internationally to support women entrepreneurs in the developing world.

Dr Zhiroff made sure she took the time to listen to my concerns and address every one of them. She made sure she covered every angle of my Atrial Fibrillation and ordered additional tests to make sure we were not missing anything. She is genuinely concerned with her patients and it shows through her attentiveness, her attitude and her actions. I would trust her with any of my loved ones.

I pushed one by mistake on the very first question. This physician should have gotten all fours. Let me tell you, I'm in the healthcare business. She is an asset to PIH. I am really kind of surprised that PIH got a quality physician like this. She's an expert in women's cardiology. She communicates. She does shared decision making with her patients. She is incredible. She's phenomenal. And I really mean it when I say you guys are really lucky to have her on your staff. Keep her happy, please. Because that will keep me happy.

The front office was very welcoming and respectful from begining to end. The doctors bedside manner and openness to hear, discuss, inform and give advise was comforting. Dr. Z provides excellent support. I fully trust her with my medical care based on her knowledge, experience and fast decision making. If one therapy does not work then, she moves on to the next one, until she sees an improvement in my condition. She personally calls for abnormal lab findings. She comes in highly recommended. Everything was excellent from the moment I arrived at the reception. The receptionist was very kind and attended to me as people should be attended to. The person who attended to me afterward, a nurse, provided excellent service, was a very good person, and very kind. As for the doctor, I have no complaints. She was magnificent. The doctor performed the check-ups, talked with me, gave me her opinion, advice, and the best I can say is that she is an excellent doctor. For me, it's 100% excellent. Thank you very much.

My critique is of the office staff calling but not ensuring that cancellation messages get to the patient in a timely fashion. A cancellation really shouldn't be called in in less than two or three days' notice for a patient, and repeat calls should occur until the patient acknowledges the cancellation. It's very important. That would be appreciated.

Dr. Zhiroff is very empathetic, compassionate and an active listener which all these qualities I appreciate in a physician. She is knowledgeable in her profession and is never condescending. She is willing to work with me and her method for treating me is conservative. She does not dismiss my ideas when it comes to using supplements or other holistic means to improve my health. In fact, she has offered tips on exercise, diet and supplements.

Dr. Zhiroff is an excellent Dr. She is very thorough and takes the time to ask how you are feeling, get updated on any changes. She explains in easy to understand language your medical condition. She explains possible next steps. She makes you feel very comfortable and more prepared with your medical condition. She's an excellent doctor. The time that she spends with her patients is very, very notable. i asked to be billed - and they have strict rules that the copayment has to be paid before you can see the doctor. so i had to go thru my purse to find $30.00 was short 6 cents so they did cover . But my complaint is in other PIH offices i do get billed which is easier for me.
