Ali Gheissari MD is a cardiothoracic and vascular surgeon who specializes in open heart as well as lung and vascular surgeries. After finishing his training in general surgery, he had two years of subspecialty fellowship training in cardiothoracic surgery and cardiac transplantation at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center in New York.

Dr. Gheissari has been in practice in the Los Angeles area for the past 30 years. He has pioneered procedures in cardiothoracic surgery such as beating heart coronary artery bypass and transcatheter aortic valve replacement in his many years in practice.

Dr. Gheissari chose a career in medicine because he has always been interested in science and he believes medicine is a profession where knowledge, power and heart come together. He thinks that helping people at their most vulnerable time is a privilege and the satisfaction and happiness that he receives after caring for a patient is priceless. His compassion for his patients, his patience in the operating room and his desire to always learn new techniques help him each day in his practice.

When Dr. Gheissari was in high school, his role model was his uncle, a successful general surgeon. Due to his influence, Dr. Gheissari became a surgeon, and during his general surgery training he became interested in cardiothoracic surgery. Cardiothoracic surgery has given him the opportunity to apply his knowledge of physiology, anatomy, critical care and surgery in the treatment of his patients.

Dr. Gheissari grew up in France, went to high school in Iran and came to the United States when he was 17. He loves to travel, play soccer and tennis, cycle, yoga, ski, and SCUBA dive. Dr. Gheissari has been named a Top Doctor by LA Magazine and was Physician of the Year at Good Samaritan Hospital in 2019.

I'm very grateful for all the care that Dr. Gheissari went ahead and provided. He was very, very patient. He explained everything and he paid attention to all my needs. So I'm very grateful and I don't think that there's anything that needs improvement because I know that he did the very best and went beyond the call of duty. Thank you so much. Thank you.

It was brief, to the point. I'll know better on the follow appointment a year from now.

Yes, this is my first time meeting with this doctor and I was very impressed and really respected the fact that he explained everything to me and it was a set up and appointment. So I was very impressed.

I think I had a very good experience. I was in a timely manner and very well taken care of by the surgeon and the staff. And it was a good experience. And I'm feeling okay and I'm glad to be home. And thank you very much. Tell the provider that the hospital care was excellent. And Dr. Biersten especially was very, very good. And his associates were very helpful. Thank you. Okay. Bye-bye.

Friendly staff and provider.

Dr. Gheissari is absolutely the finest thoracic/cardio surgeon. I had an issue that was not related to a diseased heart. A small tumor suspended by a fine thread on my aortic valve.....threat to heart attack or stroke if it dislodged. ::: Saving my life for the future.

I was very impressed with Dr. Gheissari. I think he explained everything. The second ... the question right before this one, I put a two, I did not mean to put a two. Once he explained everything, everything was done in a timely fashion. I would definitely recommend him to friends, family, anybody for a cardiovascular ... for a cardio surgeon. So that's it.

The first per receptionist at the desk when I told her, I needed to see my doctor and cardiology she sent me across the hall. She's not an exceptional listener, and paid more attention to her computer skills.

I was very impressed with the office staff, with the physician himself, with Dr. Gheissari. He was very professional. He did not talk down to me. He explained everything in a very nice manner. I feel he really listened to what I had to say. My only complaint is that I was under the impression my condition was serious and that I should have had the future test closer than five weeks away. On March 7th, I received a phone call that the test that he has ordered will not be performed until April 24th. That seemed a little excessive in time. Other than that, I have no complaints. Thank you.

I had a 2:30 appointment. they called me and left a message to say there was an opening at 2pm. i called back and let them know i will be in at 2pm. The Doctor showed up at after 2:45. the most upsetting thing was this consultation was a fistula sugery, and i am going to do PD dialysis. I have scheduled a consult with Dr (name removed). I don't know who scheduled this consult.

The staff and the doctor do attend to the patient, but the sphere of seeing the doctor in the office is very defective every time I have to go there is more than an hour waiting for him to enter the office to see the patient, that is too long and if one does not communicate to them and one arrives more than 10 minutes later the appointment will be canceled and it would have to be another appointment, but at the same time we go with the time or areas that take us to our appointments and they have to wait is very very long, they have to wait more than an hour for the doctor to come into the office.

Dr. Ali could have given me options more quickly to schedule an emergency biopsy, given the size of the mass in my lung.

I think Dr. Gheissari is a fantastic surgeon. He's been my surgeon for over three years. Always very thoughtful and I would recommend him to anybody. So that's about all I have to say. Thank you so very much. Bye-bye.
