Kathryn Schat MD is a family medicine doctor who also received special training in sports medicine, hospital medicine, and geriatrics. For the geriatric specialty, she completed a mini-fellowship at Johns Hopkins. Dr. Schat was influenced by her mother, who was a veterinarian, to pursue the medical field. Add to that her love of science and helping people feel better, and becoming a doctor was an easy choice. Ultimately Dr. Schat decided to become a family medicine doctor because the specialty takes care of a diverse population with different medical health conditions. What differentiates Dr. Schat from others is her military experience; she was a member of the US Air Force and received a Meritorious Service Medal for commendable noncombat service. In her personal time, she enjoys taking ballet classes, scuba diving, running, and biking.
