Ana Bejinez-Eastman MD likes science so much that she pursued it as a profession and became a physician specializing in family medicine. She says this specialty give her the opportunity to interact with patients of all ages and the flexibility to achieve work-life balance.
She was born at PIH Health Whittier Hospital and has lived in Whittier all her life except when she went to college. Her family is deeply rooted in the Whittier community with three generations born at PIH Health Whittier Hospital. She joined the family medicine residency program in 1996 and hopes to finish up her career at PIH Health. Having been classically trained in medicine, Dr. Bejinez-Eastman enjoys teaching in the hospital setting.
She has a particular interest in public health and health care for all. While living in Northern California, she served very marginalized populations, Native Americans and migrant workers. It made her realize the impact that lack of affordable healthcare, poor access to medications and inadequate healthcare literacy had on outcomes. She hopes that her compassion and interest in improving outcomes for these groups would carry over to her students and residents and encourage others to spend some time caring for the underserved.
Dr. Bejinez-Eastman continues to train in martial arts and enjoys traveling and spending time with her family.
