Dr. Oang knew he wanted to pursue medicine growing up in his native Cambodia. “I was sick a lot during grade school, even missing vacations with my family. So, I decided to be a physician to take care of myself,” he says, adding that “Internal medicine offers a broad base of knowledge, which enables me to take care of patients with all different medical problems.”
Dr. Oang survived Cambodia’s brutal dictator Pol Pot and the Khmer Rouge regime, responsible for killing more than a million people in the 1970s. Today he likes to vacation with his family.
