Wesley Heartfield MD is a board-certified general surgeon who specializes in general and colorectal surgery. After residency, Dr. Heartfield completed a fellowship in colorectal surgery at the University of Southern California, where he trained under the pioneering surgeon Dr. Robert Beart. He specializes in minimally invasive surgery for colon and rectal cancer. He also performs surgery for stomach and gallbladder disease, diverticulitis, appendicitis, abdominal wall hernias, and performs screening and diagnostic colonoscopies.
Dr. Heartfield joined PIH Health in 2020 after 17 years in private practice at PIH Health Good Samaritan Hospital. He has been active in medical staff leadership serving as the Chairman of the Credentials and Peer Review committees and as Vice Chairman of the Medical Staff. In 2021 he was elected Chief of Medical Staff at PIH Health Good Samaritan Hospital. He is actively involved in quality initiatives, striving to achieve outstanding medical and surgical care at PIH Health Good Samaritan Hospital.
Dr. Heartfield believes that one of the most important components of patient care is the partnership that is formed between patient and physician. He enjoys getting to know his patients and their families and finding out what contributes most to their sense of well-being.
In his spare time, Dr. Heartfield enjoys staying physically active with his wife and four children in sports such as hiking, running, skiing, and wakeboarding. He and his family enjoy nature and have developed a keen interest in birdwatching and outdoor photography.
