Dr. Andrew Luu is a fellowship-trained hip and knee replacement specialist.  He chose this sub-specialty because he finds it very gratifying that he is able to have such an immediate impact on his patients' quality of life. 

Dr. Luu specializes in robotic-assisted hip and knee replacements, minimally invasive procedures such as the direct anterior total hip replacement as well as partial knee replacements. His practice also has an emphasis on complex adult reconstructions including reoperations on previously failed hip and knee replacements.

Dr. Luu is the Associate Director of Orthopedics and Total Joint Replacement Surgery at PIH Health and has previously been recognized as one of Los Angeles' Top Doctors. Dr. Luu has also been featured in PIH Health’s Healthy Living magazine: Fall 2020/Winter 2021, Up and Walking the Same Day (page 24) and Spring/Summer 2020, Ask the Expert column (page 11).

I am a soft-spoken, very sensitive and emotional person, and it helped that the doctor was our provided a good bedside manner and acted like he really cared about me and same with the lady at checkout. Dr. Luu is the best! Since day one of meeting with him ( over 2 years ago ) I have had complete trust in him. Since my hip replacement 2 yrs ago I have had no issues. Dr Luu is easy to talk to, he listens and puts you at ease with your concerns questions you may have. All interactions with office staff and the X-ray tech have been positive.

My provider, Dr. Luu and his staff are great. Very friendly and courteous every time I have an appointment to see him. I mentioned to the doctor that even when I had gone to therapy, the therapist would ask who had performed my surgery and I would mention his name, they would tell me he is just great with his work on his patients, even they had never met him but did praise his work.

This entire knee replacement process had been outstanding. Dr. Luu is very pleasant and extremely knowledgeable . I recommend him for knee replacement whenever people inquire about my knees. I wear shorts and flaunt my knees even to strangers. People my age always have knee questions. I only recommend Dr Luu. I think he's a wonderful doctor. I think he's very intelligent. I believe in him that he knows what he's doing as far as surgery goes. I feel his bedside manners are phony. But yes, I do trust him as a doctor goes and I know he's not there to be real friendly. He's there to make sure I'm in good health and that my surgery went well. But I do believe his bedside manners honestly could be a little bit better.

It was very difficult to make an appointment using the app. It was really far out. But once we did make an appointment, Dr. Luu was amazing, listened to us and he heard us when we met with him about how urgent this is as my daughter is a volleyball player and tryouts are coming up next week and club at the end of the month. We really wanted to know what was going on with her and help her heal. He called me right away when he got the MRI results first thing early in the morning so we can make a plan and get another appointment to see a sports medicine. We really appreciate the quick and efficient appointment system and making the other appointment too. They had already scheduled it as early as possible with Dr. (name removed). So again, extremely grateful for Dr. Luu once we were able to get in. Thank you.

Great experience, but in all fairness, it was my first visit. Very pleasant office staff, support team and Dr Luu was kind and knowledgeable. The building was well marked, the parking lot was clean and clear of debris and as pleasant as a parking lot could be. The office lobby was clean and hospitable as were the exam rooms. Front office staff, x-ray technician, RN and the doctor were all very pleasant and professional, nor did they come across as short on time and rushed. Very good first impression.

I went and got a copy of the report he, Dr. Luu wrote and some of his comments that he wrote is untrue. He put down that she delayed her physical therapy for a month due to uncertain reasons. I did not delay my physical therapy. I asked the doctor over and over about physical therapy. I was not the person that delayed my physical therapy. Also, he put down that I have trouble going downstairs, but it's uncertain on which knee is bothering her. I only have one knee that I have my knee replaced, but it's bothering me. The why he put uncertain. I'm very confused on his report. I would like to.

The person who took my initial info in the examining room was extremely pleasant, patient and kind as was the X-ray person. Her name was (name removed), I didn't get the young man X-ray tech's name but he was considerate and gentle. It was all very appreciated, especially when painful joints are involved.

My experience with Dr. Luu was great. However, the referral that my primary care provider (name removed) sent only included one of the reasons I went to see Dr. Luu, which means I needed to call my primary care provider and ask for another referral and I will need to return to see Dr. Luu to deal with the second issue. It would be helpful if these things are correct the first time.

Dr. Luu was highly recommended to me from a friend who had knee surgery, and I've only heard good things from other people about Dr. Luu's performances, and his staff has been extremely helpful and informative. The only problem I have is phone calls through the, I guess, the main telephone, whatever. But everything else with PIH, because I've obtained other doctors through PIH, I have really been happy. But Dr. Luu is by far, I think, one of the best orthopedists that I've ever known. I actually fired my original one and went to him for my recommendations, and he's great. He's a great doctor. Dr. Luu is an exceptional surgeon and provider. He explains things very thoroughly and treats his patients with the upmost courtesy and respect. He really cares about his patients and follows them for some time. I always look forward to my visits with Dr. Luu as I feel as though my relationship with him is like a familial one as well as a professional one. I can't say enough good things about him. I am extremely fortunate to have had him as my surgeon. He totally changed my life for the better. I highly recommend Dr. Luu to patients considering hip or knee surgery! Dr Luu, is by far the BEST Doctor/Surgeon I have ever dealt with in my entire life. He treats his patients with kindness, dignity and respect. He truly appears to care about all of his patients. He is amazing at his craft, I have not had a single issue with my hip surgery.

Dr Luu was nice, but he came in and introduced himself then asked what happened. I explained and without even looking at my foot he just said your toe will heel he promised. I told him it hurts and then he looked at it. He said to buy a post op shoe on Amazon and wear it about 6 weeks. I received one at my first appointment when I went in a found out it was broken, but it's too big and defeats the purpose. It seemed like he was in a hurry to, I guess see his next patient.

Dr and staff where all very friendly and efficient. ( from the receptionist,x-ray tech,nurses and DR) DR was very patient and very clear in his explanation of everything. It was a very positive experience

Dr. Luu and the staff were great! Extremely frustrated with the PIH facilities. Broken elevator which resulted in long wait and delay. Needed to drive to find in service parking ticket pay stations added additional delay (only 1 out of 3 pay stations were functioning). Both elevator and pay station delays resulted in a longer stay than expected or necessary (longer than 30 min free parking), which resulted in having to pay for parking. PIH needs to maintain facilities and pay stations with all the parking money collected from patients and allow 1 hour free parking because no one ever leaves a doctor's office within 30 minutes.

Dr. Luu had an emergency and was a half hour late for my appointment. The staff told me he would be 20 minutes late. The staff never came back to to update his status or arrival.
